Earlier this month we showed you first images of the upcoming 2013/2014 BMW FWD hatch. Now our spy photographer has managed to get closer shots. Despite no new details emerging from the heavily camouflaged prototype, our spy photogrpaher shares his impressions:
"This car is much bigger than it appears from the first photographs. There is room inside this car for four adults sitting comfortably. You will notice that the back of the car is heavily disguised. However you can also see that there is a sharp angle to the rear window. The interior is still totally covered, but I have no doubt what so ever that this is a Front-Wheel-Drive, because of the space inside the car."
Set to compete against the Mercedes B-Class and Volkswagen Golf Plus, this 5-door hatch will share its platform with the next generation 2013 MINI Cooper, as confirmed by BMW Chairman Norbert Reithofe, "For these new vehicles [the new BMW and MINI] we are developing a common architecture for both front and four-wheel drive."
The hatchback seen here certainly is showing the cab-forward design of a front-drive vehicle and it appears to have Golf-class/A3 like proportions. And the Audi A3 will certainly be another one of this models main competitors.
