Ford Focus RS the next generation 2014
Ford has officially confirmed the development of the "charged" Focus RS hatchback next generation. In an interview with the Australian edition of Drive, said the head office of the American small car manufacturer, Gunnar Herrmann.
According to him, the new Ford Focus RS will continue to be offered only with front-wheel drive and front wheel suspension with individual swivel to minimize the effect of thruster at overclocking. Also, the car will get more powerful than its predecessor, the engine.
"I think a lot of power for the new RS is quite justified. In limited series RS500 engine was boosted to 350 horsepower, and some of our test samples developed 380 horsepower and even more. However, such returns raises the question of endurance and reliability of the unit, but I'm sure that the car can handle it "- said Herrmann.
The top manager of Ford also added that the five-cylinder 2.5-liter in the previous Focus ST and RS was an excellent choice for tuning, but now engineers are working on two-liter turbo unit forcing the family EcoBoost. It is expected that such a motor in a 250-strong version will be installed and the new Focus ST.
In addition, Herrmann has denied the rumors appear before that for the future of the hatchback RS conventional petrol engine will work together with an electric motor driving the rear wheels.
Hatchback Ford Focus RS will be the next generation is expected in late 2013 or early 2014.
